The Distance | 2014
The Distance is a story that speaks about sexual abuse to survivors and provides hope to those who have had none. It centers on one man's struggle with his repressed memories of an abusive past and their effect on his adulthood, while his best friend, who is also the survivor of an abusive upbringing, tries to provide help and understanding. Set in present-day Middle America, the story focuses on the effects of abuse rather than actual acts of abuse. It tells survivors that they should no longer be afraid to speak out about their pasts or to seek help for their confusions.
