‘The Evil Dead’ Remake Finds a Director (UPDATE: and a Big-Name Co-Writer)

UPDATE: Diablo Cody is working on the latest version of the screenplay. Her only other horror script was for the Megan Fox co-career killer (along with her Michael Bay-dolf Hitler comments) Jennifer’s Body, so … nowhere to go but up?

EARLIER: The long gestating remake/reboot/sequel/thing of The Evil Dead has finally found a director and is one step closer to seeing the light of day. Up and comer Fede Alvarez has been tapped by original writer/director Sam Raimi to direct the film. While Alvarez has only done shorts up until this point, the quality of the shorts suggest major talent. Two years ago, one of his shorts Panic Attack went viral and he has obviously parlayed the recognition to land this high profile gig. That, or he gives really good handies.

Anyway, that’s about all we know of the new movie so far. Details will probably start appearing after I find my boomstick. I swear I left it around here somewhere.
