To say the first teaser for ‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ was underwhelming might be a bit of an understatement.
Sure it’s a teaser, but it just featured the leftover Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe) walking through the woods, about to journey beyond the farm into the unknown. But the first movie was so awesome fans wanted any kind of glimpse at what the sequel is, and it was something. On New Years the full first trailer dropped and it is something.
Post-apocalyptic stories always have a couple of big questions which many were left unanswered in the first one. We knew what was terrifying, we knew how they could hide from them, and it was kind of revealed what hurts them. The two big questions are how did this happen and what next? In this trailer we open up with the beginning, Day 1. Evelyn (Emily Blunt) is driving the kids when there’s radio interference and obvious out of the vehicle something is very wrong. Creature crashes down, people go crazy, there is a glimpse of the father Lee (John Krasinski) and then there’s a bus. All in what feels like a long shot.
Then we go to after A Quiet Place. The family has to travel and they find someone who doesn’t want to be found. This gets to the second question of what happens next. Sometimes the real monsters aren’t the creatures they are afraid of and are the humans that survived. Plus Cillian Murphy is always a welcome addition.
‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ releases on March 20, 2020.
