It seems like we’ve been waiting forever to get some footage from the upcoming all-female Ghostbusters reboot, and now the wait is finally over. Sony Pictures just dropped the trailer for the film, which is set to be released, July 15, 2016 and it’s just as hilarious as we’ve been hoping for.

The film stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Directed by Paul Feig, who also helmed Bridesmaids and 2015’s Spy, the film trailer pays homage to the original franchise by including the 1959 Cadillac Ecto-1, the original Ghostbusters logo and the iconic slimer.

Surprisingly, there has been a lot of criticism surrounding the project since it was first announced, with some people even calling for an all-male Ghostbusters reboot. Fieg has clearly been feeling the pressure and decided to first screen the trailer on the Sony lot this past Wednesday for some Ghostbusters superfans. The trailer received a standing ovation. The films’ co-writer Katie Dippold spoke to the crowd saying, “I’m so happy for today, to have you guys applauding the trailer… [Feig] has put himself out there, getting the worst tweets. So to see this warm energy from the fans means a lot. He’s been thinking of you guys first and foremost.”

Frankly, we knew not to be worried. After all, female-driven comedies like Trainwreck and Bridesmaids have been slaying the box office as of late. So what do we know about the movie so far?

Wiig plays Erin Gilbert, a Columbia University particle physicist who is the laughing stock of her department because of her deep belief in ghosts. Melissa McCarthy plays Gilbert’s BFF Abby Yates, a woman obsessed with paranormal who works in the basement of a “less than exciting college. Rounding out the cast are Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzman an engineer who builds the team’s ghost fighting equipment and SNL’s Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan and MTA worker whose obsessed with science-fiction. Let’s not forget the hunky Chris Hemsworth who plays the Ghostbusters’  ditsy secretary.

Feig says that he chose to reboot the franchise instead of making it a sequel because he really wanted to show how technology has developed over time. Also, though the film is set to be released in just over four months, Feig is still hard at work perfecting every joke and making sure the film is just right.
