The Intruders soul man dies

Soul pioneer Robert ‘Big Sonny’ Edwards has passed away, aged 74.
The musician, an original member of The Intruders, suffered a heart attack at his home and was hospitalised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he died on Saturday (15Oct16).
Edwards rose to fame as part of the doo-wop group after signing with top producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff in 1966.
They are widely credited for helping to define the Philadelphia Sound genre of the 1960s and 70s with hits including Cowboys to Girls, (Love Is Like A) Baseball Game, and Sad Girl.
The Intruders’ original line-up parted ways in 1975.
