The King and I to close on Broadway

The King and I is set to close on Broadway later this month (Jun16).
The latest version of the show was a big winner at the Tony Awards last year (15), picking up prizes for Best Revival of a Musical, Best Costume Design, Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Ruthie Ann Miles) and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical (Kelli O’Hara).
The production is slated to begin a national tour in Providence, Rhode Island in November (16).
Former Lost star Daniel Dae Kim made his Broadway debut in the titular role of the King of Siam at New York’s Lincoln Center Theater in May (16). He signed on for a limited eight-week run opposite Marin Mazzie.
The production will close on 26 June (16).
Prior to Kim’s debut, Inception star Ken Watanabe reprised his role of the King, which he played when the revival opened last year (Apr15).
