Disney has been remaking films left and right it feels like, but certain times it feels kind of wrong.
If they had remade Mary Poppins I think people would have a coronary. She’s practically perfect in every way, so why would you change anything about her?
Well, Disney isn’t remaking her film, just moving on with the story. ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ has the Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) return to the now grown Jane (Emily Mortimer) and Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw) during the time of the depression so she can try to brighten up the young darlings lives. She shows up with her friend Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) helping her in the trailer, and we can’t help but feel the joy of Ms. Poppins.
Also starring in the film will be Maryl Streep, Colin Firth, Dick Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, Julie Walters, and we can only hope for a Michael Rooker cameo.
‘Mary Poppins Returns’ releases Christmas 2018, December 25, 2018.
