People had really interesting questions for the cast, and the cast had even more interesting answers. When asked what/who the cast would bring into the maze with them, after his cast mates responded with their (normal) answers, Dylan O’Brien said he would bring a baby goat, because the baby goats that had on set during filming had been “really cute with their mommies,” and he loved having them there.

Fast Filming

The Maze Runner was filmed in only 8 weeks. That is about half the time most films of this genre get to work with. These 8 weeks fit in perfectly for Dylan’s break from Teen Wolf.

The cast was really close…like, closer than you think. The condensed filming time they had really helped them all bond together and form a Maze Runner family. But that’s not the only reason they’re so close. Jacob Latimore let everyone know that the whole cast stayed in the same hotel together the entire time and it was, “Like the bomb.”

James Dashner was asked when watching the movie, were there any moments that he thought were better than the book? He admit that the grievers in the movie are better than the book, that they totally blew his out of the water.

Backstage, 92Y asked O’Brien what the hardest part was of his stunts. He said all of the stunts were exhausting for him. It was fun, but it was exhausting for him to do. The Maze Runner

One fan gave Dylan the ultimate choice. If he were to bring anyone into the Maze with him to survive, would it be: the cast of Teen Wolf, the Mets, or One Direction. He said he had to pick his Mets (ooo, what a burn to his Teen Wolf cast mates) but we wish he’d said 1D.

Chris Sheffield said that when filming the banishment scene, they had to redo opening the doors at least 3 times, because they were opening too fast (said all before he jumped backwards, like he was scared of the doors all over again).

When asked how the process went for writing this book and creating this world, Dashner said that the maze came first to him and then became it's own character entirely.

Apparently, Thomas Brodie-Sangster hates team building exercises. To prepare for filming, the cast was trained by two U.S. marines, as well as taking part in team building activities. He is not the biggest fan.

Between questions, Thomas Brodie-Sangster had a good time goofing off with his friends. He got Dylan laughing like crazy when he stuck his microphone in his shoe.

Dylan only had 4 days between being cast and starting to film the movie. So he said he began reading the book before filming, because he understands it is important to really dive into a character, but then he didn’t get to finish reading the book (cause he’s a really slow reader, his words not ours) until after they wrapped filming.

American Accents...are the easy?
American Accents...are the easy?
Cyndi Cappello/Hollywood.com
Kaya Scodelario and Thomas Brodie-Sangster are some of the non-Americans in the cast…but only Kaya managed to get in an American accent for the film. She said it wasn’t too hard, because growing up in the U.K. she watched a lot of American film and television. Whereas, Thomas had a bit more trouble and said, “That is my American accent,” with a laugh.
