“Based on a true story” movies always leave you wondering what’s true and what’s false, and the actors they cast almost always look nothing like the actual people they are portraying. That’s not the case with ‘The 15:17 to Paris’.
Director Clint Eastwood met the three main men (Anthony Sadler, Alex Skarlatos, and Spencer Stone) involved with the 2015 Paris Train Attack when he introduced them at The 2016 Guys Choice Award (Remember the time that he mocked Caitlin Jenner). That’s when they told Eastwood they were writing a book about the event. Eastwood liked the story and wanted to rights to the story for a film. The men were ecstatic then because they knew their story would actually get told. Fast forward, Eastwood tried casting people, but none of them felt right. 4 days before shooting he cast the heroes to play themselves in their story.
That must have felt awesome and in the above interview, you can hear all about it. Anthony Sadler, Alex Skarlatos, Spencer Stone, and Director Clint Eastwood talk about getting the story right, being cast to play themselves, and what they want audiences to take from watching the film.
‘The 15: 17 to Paris’ releases February 9, 2018.
