The London premiere of Tom Cruise’s new blockbuster The Mummy has become the latest high-profile event to be cancelled in the wake of the bombing in Manchester, England.

Studio chiefs at Universal Pictures were planning to launch the movie in the U.K. with a red carpet bash on 1 June (17), but they have pulled the event “out of respect” for the 22 people killed in Monday’s (22May17) suicide bomb blast, which took place outside Manchester Arena after an Ariana Grande gig.

“All of us at Universal have been devastated by the terror attack in Manchester and continue to stand with the community and country as it recovers,” reads a statement issued on Thursday (25May17).

“Out of respect to those affected by this tragedy we have decided not to move forward with the London premiere for The Mummy scheduled to take place next week.”

Cruise and his co-stars Russell Crowe, Sofia Boutella, and Annabelle Wallis, and director Alex Kurtzman had all been expected to attend the red carpet screening.

The news emerges a day after Warner Bros. bosses axed the London premiere and press junkets for Wonder Woman for similar reasons. The superhero movie’s stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and Robin Wright were all expected to be part of the promotional events in U.K. capital.

Wonder Woman will still open in the U.K. on 2 June (17)and The Mummy will hit British theaters on 9 June (17).

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth II travelled to Manchester on Thursday to pay a surprise visit to youngsters injured in Monday’s terror attack. The British monarch met with patients and their relatives at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where she condemned the atrocity as “dreadful”, insisting it was “very wicked” to target a concert full of kids.
