The “Natural Blonde” Shopping Party and Clothing Launch Featuring Tweety

Forget the typical bird-brained blonde jokes: a pack of platinum-tressed celebrities including Nicole Richie and reformed redhead Lindsay Lohan proved to be quite bright indeed when they popped into West Hollywood’s trendy Kitson boutique for the “Natural Blonde” Shopping Party and Clothing Launch to snatch samples from the new ‘Tweety’ collection of clothing, featuring Looney Tunes’ animated icon Tweety Bird.

Tweety himself was on the yellow carpet, greeting a gaggle of towheaded party guests including Tori Spelling, Kaley Cuoco, Terminator 3‘s Kristanna Loken, Reba’s Joanna Garcia, Extra host and mom-to-be Dayna Devon, former Dawson’s Creek cutie Meredith Monroe, party girl Bijou Phillips, Deadwood’s Jenny McShane, onetime Baywatch babe Brande Roderick and ex-“Playmate for Life” Kimberly Conrad Hefner with the man she’s currently making sweet music with, the incomparable Quincy Jones.

The night’s theme was a decidedly mellow yellow, with lemon Snapple and Twinkies handed out on the passing party trays, while the largely estrogen heavy crowd checked out scores and scores of Tweety Bird-emblazoned tees, bikinis and accessories like flip-flops. Of course, there was also room for a bevy of non-blondes like Unscripted’s deep-minded hottie Krista Allen, and perky TV hostess Maria Menounos, who was hot and bothered about her upcoming acting role in The Fantastic Four opposite Chris Evans‘ Human Torch.

Baby-blonde Lohan was the first of her regular traveling party posse–which includes Ritchie and gal pal Nicky Hilton–to arrive at Kitson, ushered discreetly in the back door and greeting Bijou with a big hug at the DJ booth. Escorted by the beautiful (and glowing blonde) P.R. maven Lara Shriftman, Lindsay assiduously worked every corner of the cutting-edge boutique, carefully checking out all of the hottest merchandise (she also ducked all press interviews and made sure her handlers knew when she was done being photographed). Lindsay wore a black top with loads and loads of costume jewelry necklaces, a cream wrap, olive pants and beaded black cowboy boots.

Eventually frosted-locked Nicole–with fiancé DJ AM in tow–and former blonde Nicky Hilton arrived via the yellow carpet with their posse, including young socialites Casey Johnson and Caleigh Peters. Nicole and AM slid inside and joined up immediately with Lindsay. The two gals cheerfully posed for photos as they tore through baskets of merchandise like a whirlwind, digging for bracelets and accessories at a speed I have never seen.

Nicky, whose signature fashion and handbag line has recently blown up big and graced an entire wall at Kitson (“I see young girls wearing my tops or my jeans or the bags-It’s cool. Sometimes I’m like ‘Thank you!'”), was especially captivated by the Tweety line. “Actually I named my clothing line Chick kind of after the whole Tweety thing,” Nicky told me, “because when I was little my Dad thought I looked like Tweety Bird, because I was this little thing with yellow hair and big blue eyes.”

As one of those in attendance whose locks have been both light and dark, I had to ask her: Did she have more fun as a blonde or a brunette? “I’ve had a lot of fun as a brunette, I have to say,” Nicky revealed. “Maybe a little more. I don’t know.” I agreed that her life as a brunette seemed to be providing her a lot of excitement recently, having spied Nicky, Nicole and Lindsay at three consecutive bashes that week alone. “Yeah. It’s fun to go out with your girlfriends,” she grinned. “And it’s almost summer. But then, in L.A. it’s summer every day.”
