There’s something different about this next generation of Marvel films. Ever since Guardians of the Galaxy, it feels like there’s something special. Marvel realized if you can show the strange and unfamiliar Guardians and their weird other worlds and fans will flock to it, maybe they can branch out a little bit. That’s what it feels like they’re doing with Thor: Ragnarok, and that’s what they’re doing with ‘Black Panther’.
We were first introduced to the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) character during Civil War. His father, the king of Wakanda passes away and Panther turns into an absolute bad ass with skills like we’ve never seen before. He was a standout during the film, but we knew nothing about him or his world. This film seems like it will start off with Panther returning to his home and having to be king. It’s important for leaders to figure out what kind of leader they will be. We also see the first of Erik Kilmonger (Michael B. Jordan) the main antagonist who teams up with Klaw (Andy Serkis), and they two will face off in some amazing combat to the likes that we haven’t seen yet.
Add that awesome combat to some great jams from both Vince Staples – BagBak and the ever classic “Heron” by Gil Scott, and the film has a lot to live up to.
‘Black Panther’ releases February 16, 2018.
