The Only Son | 2012
A Tibetan family from a remote Himalayan village is forced to give up all but one of their children for adoption. Each child grows up in an environment very different from their remote village, and they cannot imagine giving up Western conveniences. One day, the eldest son Pema receives word to return home to care for his parents and marry a girl from his village. All the siblings reunite at the family home after almost a lifetime of separation. Despite their different cultural upbringings and a loss of language, the links of family still prove strong. Pema is left with the difficult decision to pursue his Westernized dreams or respect the dying traditions of his culture.
