The Perfect Storm actress Janet Wright dies age 71

British-born actress Janet Wright has died age 71.
Wright, whose family emigrated from the U.K. to Canada when she was a child, passed away on Monday (14Nov16).
During a distinguished acting career she starred opposite George Clooney in The Perfect Storm, and with Ian McKellen in the Canadian experimental film Emile.
In Canada she was best known for her role as matriarch Emma Leroy in beloved comic book shop based sitcom Corner Gas. She also starred in a 2014 film version of the comedy.
Her death was confirmed by bosses at CTV, the Canadian TV network which aired Corner Gas from 2004 to 2009. No cause of death has been announced.
Wright triumphed at Canada’s version of the Oscars, the Genie Awards, winning the Best Actress prize in 1992 for her role in the drama Bordertown Cafe.
She is survived by her second husband Bruce and her two adult children from a previous marriage.
The actress and her widower also had a daughter, Rachel, who tragically died at the age of 23 after she was shot outside a nightclub while trying to assist a stranger.
