The Stepford Wives director Bryan Forbes dies

Veteran British actor/filmmaker Bryan Forbes has died after a long illness. The 86 year old passed away at his home in Surrey, England on Wednesday (08May13).
He is best known for 1973 horror film The Stepford Wives and his 1961 directorial debut Whistle Down The Wind, which starred a young Hayley Mills and Alan Bates.
Forbes also directed movie classics International Velvet, King Rat, Seance on a Wet Afternoon and The L-Shaped Room, and he appeared in over 30 films and TV movies, including A Shot in the Dark, The Guns of Navarone and Quatermass II: Enemy from Space.
He was married to British actress Nanette Newman.
In 2004, the filmmaker was honoured with a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) medal, and last year (12) he received a prestigious British Film Institute Fellowship Award.
