The Waterboys release 85 unheard songs

Veteran rockers The Waterboys are to release 85 unheard tracks as part of a seven-disc box set celebrating the 25th anniversary of their classic album Fisherman’s Blues. The folk band famously took two-and-a-half years to record the 1988 album, and it will be reissued later this year (13) along with more than 100 other songs the band produced during the mammoth sessions.
Several of those tracks were included on previous re-releases of Fisherman’s Blues, but 85 of the songs have never been heard by fans.
The Waterboys’ frontman and founder Mike Scott tells Uncut magazine, “(The original release) should have been a double or triple album, or two or three separate albums released in consecutive years… I can’t turn back the clock, but the Fisherman’s Box set is the next best thing. It’s a collection of everything potent we recorded during those amazingly creative two-and-a-half years.”
Fisherman’s Box, containing a total of 121 songs, is due for release in October (13).
