There are just a few days left in 2016, and though much of the year was hot trash, there were some positive things about it. Originally, the box office whisperers declared that 2016 would be a crap year for film revenue. However, it looks like that is not at all the case. (After all, what’s better than movies to escape this cruel cruel world?) With a whopping $11.3 billion in revenue, 2016 was a kick ass year for Hollywood.
ComScore has calculated the numbers which will get a final tally on Saturday, December 31st. Even though there were huge pushbacks like Avatar 2 and Star Wars: Episode VIII, films like Deadpool, The Secret Life of Pets and Doctor Strange were major surprises. It didn’t seem to matter that Ghostbusters, Zoolander 2, and Alice Through the Looking Glass were big fat flops.
