‘Time Bandits’ To Become Children’s Action Franchise?

Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits is pretty weird, or perhaps more accurately: really, really weird. But it’s not weird in a oh-my-god-what-is-going-on-here-I-want-to-die kind of way (well, maybe in some parts), but more so in just a happy, innocently different way. Knowing that, what’s the best way to introduce the idea that it’s okay to be different to children? Why, toss all that weird crap out and remake it into a “kids’ action franchise,” of course!

According to Variety, producers Guy Collins, Michael Ryan, Fred Hedman and another unnamed Hollywood producer are in talks to reboot Gilliam’s film, and other than the fact that they want to remove all the odd stuff, there’s nothing else really known. However, Gilliam’s name was absent from the reports, and even though he could maybe be that “unnamed” producer, we’re kind of in doubt, mainly because of those words: kids’ action franchise. I mean, c’mon, watch the trailer below. You’re telling me that he’d want to change that?
