Tin Machine drummer regrets not reconnecting with David Bowie before he died

Former Tin Machine drummer Hunt Sales will always regret not reconnecting with bandmate David Bowie before his death in 2016.
Hunt was recovering from a heroin addiction and dealing with his mother’s death when he heard the Let’s Dance singer was ill.
“I always thought I’d run into him one day and he’d go, ‘Hunt, that’s really great. You got your s**t together’,” he tells Billboard. “I don’t have closure with that. I had heard he wasn’t well, but I thought I’d see him. I’ll deal with it, but I miss him.”
Sales and Bowie became close while they were working together as part of Tin Machine, and as great as it was to have a true music icon in the studio with him, the drummer admits he was around for the late star’s “s**ty records”.
“I respected him for how creative he was, but I wasn’t buying some of his s**t,” he explains. “I know what the guy’s capable of, but he made some s**tty records too, when I thought he was much better than that.”
