Tom Cruise to Blame for Poor ‘M:I:3’ Opening, Says Former Agent

Tom Cruise is responsible for the poor box office performance of Mission: Impossible 3, according to his former agent Ron Meyer.

The film took a disappointing $48 million in its opening weekend at the U.S. box office, falling well short of industry forecasts.

In 2000, Mission: Impossible II scooped a massive $57 million, despite lower ticket prices.

And Meyer claims the hype surrounding Cruise‘s relationship with Katie Holmes and his infamous appearance on Oprah Winfrey‘s talk show is to blame.

Meyer says, “When the public learns too much about a star, it’s dangerous. You’re hiring a mystique. No one is as attractive as they are portrayed.”
