‘Transformers 2’ to Run 28 Seconds Longer in IMAX

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay revealed via his blog yesterday that the IMAX version of his highly-anticipated alien robot sequel will be longer than the regular theatrical version. “I created a slightly longer cut with more robot fighting,” wrote Bay. “Four scenes were shot on IMAX cameras so the screen will fill the full IMAX screen for these scenes.” The director closed his entry with “haters beware” — a stern warning to those foolish enough to stand in the way of his big-budget juggernaut. We’re looking at you, Harry Potter.

According to a source at IMAX, the new footage will add approximately 28 seconds to the film’s running time. Which is a fairly significant span, considering Bay’s famously frenetic directing style. By our calculations, the expanded running time allows for an additional nine explosions, four circling-camera sequences, six gratuitous Megan Fox cleavage shots or some combination of all three.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens June 24th. To find out where the IMAX version is playing in your area, visit IMAX.com.
