Trevor Horn loses fabled studio in wildfires

British music mogul Trevor Horn has lost his fabled California recording studio in a fire.
The producer behind Buggles megahit Video Killed the Radio Star and albums by Yes and other top pop and rock acts has learned his Bel-Air home and studio has been caught in the wildfires that have devastated parts of the state in the past week.
The SARM West Coast facility has hosted the Art of Noise, Bell & Sebastian, Lana Del Rey, One Direction, Kanye West, and Charli XCX.
Horn has vowed to rebuild the studio.
Meanwhile, longtime Toto star Simon Phillips also lost his home in the fires, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. He was performing with his solo band in New York City at the time.
Phillips and his family are raising money through GoFundMe to get back on their feet.
Ariana Grande and Lionel Richie’s families were also caught up in the fire drama last week (ends08Dec17) – Ariana’s mother was evacuated from her home and Lionel had to scrap a gig in Las Vegas on Wednesday (06Dec17), so he could stay in Los Angeles and help relatives escape the danger zone.
The string of wildfires that have burned up over 230,000 acres of land make up the fifth-largest fire-related disaster in California history, according to the Los Angeles Times.
