Queen is one of the biggest bands in the world, and when it was announced that there would be a movie, people were stoked.
First Brian May and Roger Taylor agreed to help produce it, but that this one is the one and only time. Then we found out Sacha Baron Cohen would be playing Freddie Mercury (way back in 2010). Then he baked out (rumors about his version only being about half of Queen’s life, other rumors about he wanted an adult-oriented film while the band wants it family friendly.). Then Rami Malek was cast (more on that in a few), Bryan Singer would direct until he clashed with cast and crew.
After all that, here we are. Despite how awesome a Sacha Baron Cohen Freddie Mercury would be, Rami Malek looks like he will do extremely well in the roll, and tell more of the complete story like the band wants it to be. The internet is really buzzing at how much Gwilym Lee looks and sounds like Brian May, and I for one am excited about a fun look at their recording process as well as how they deal with being one of the biggest bands ever. The film is set to end at the bands legendary 1985 Live Aid performance.
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ releases November 2, 2018.
