‘Twilight’ Not Afraid to Get Gross

ALT TEXTTwilight fans, things just got real.

Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and director Bill Condon announced they plan to be faithful to the book, and will shoot Bella’s nasty-ass childbirth scene for the movie version of Breaking Dawn.

“We’re working on it. And we’re working on it to be as intense as it is in the book,” Rosenberg told E! Online.

For those who aren’t die-hard Twilight fans, here’s what happens (spoiler alert): During childbirth, the baby essentially claws its way out of Bella, breaking her ribs and leaving a huge, bloody mess. Nasty!

Rosenberg explains how they’ll try to do it.

“I don’t think it’s about the amount of blood you show. It’s about the intensity of it. It’s on their faces. It’s all from Bella’s point of view when you’re seeing what’s going. It should feel visceral. I think it’s going to be pretty insane.”

No surprise that Rosenberg is wanting to stay true to the book. She sometimes writes for Dexter — you know, that TV show about the serial killer who wraps people in tape and stabs them then cuts them up with a chainsaw and throws them in the ocean? Pft — childbirth, shmildbirth.
