UPDATE: Mia Wasikowska Talking to Join ‘Stoker’

Mia WasikowskaUPDATE: Despite us still having difficulty pronouncing her name, Mia Wasikowska is still getting roles. Well, at least talking about getting roles. The actress is currently chatting with Chan-wook Park to replace Carey Mulligan in Stoker, despite Mulligan being attached when the script was original sold. In addition, previously announced star Jodie Foster has left the project, putting its status into question.

EARLIER: Mia Wasikowska has one of the hardest names to pronounce in Hollywood. She’s right up there with Scorsese, Galifianakis, and Isla Fisher for me. Her name basically sounds like someone with a bad accent asking “was there a cow?” But that’s beside the point.

What is the point is that she’s a hot new actress and two productions are currently vying for her. She could wind up doing both but there is some scheduling problems that have yet to be worked out. First is The Wettest County in the World, which is not a pornographic look at small local governments, you perv. What it does involve is prohibition and has Shia Labeouf, Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain attached to star, with John Hillcoat directing from a script by Nick Cave. The other is Stoker, a 2010 Blacklist script with Carey Mulligan and Jodie Foster set to star. It revolves around a daughter mourning her father when her mysterious uncle shows up. And if you made it through that sentence without falling asleep, my congratulations.

Wasikowska is looking to capitalize on her stunning 2010 resume in which she starred in Alice in Wonderland and The Kids are All Right, two of the most overrated films of the year. Way to go Wasic- Wasikosk- Wasikowska! There we go. Appreciate the help of copy and paste.
