Oh boy. This is not good. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a situation and this is not a drill. Vin Diesel is returning to comedy with The Machine, a vehicle he’ll produce and star in for MGM.
And not only a comedy, but one from the same people who brought you The Pacifier. Now, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (who wrote the fore mentioned 2005 family film). They created the amazing Reno 911! but they also write stuff like The Pacifier and Night at the Museum. I do realize that mortgages have to be paid and food has to be bought, but still. I can’t handle it. I want it to be good. I want Vin Diesel to be funny. Lennon and Garant are so funny together too, why can’t they get a better assignment? This one is about a top secret human/machine developed by the Pentagon that, after being scrapped twenty years ago, is woken up by a family which he then must protect from the same people who want to reclaim him. My heart weeps at the potential lost by this movie. It weeps!
