Watch The Emotional Trailer For ‘The Glass Castle’

We grow up thinking our parents are the most amazing people ever. When we grow up we sometimes realize differently.

That’s what author Jeanette Walls wanted to show with her real life experiences in her 2005 memoir ‘The Glass Castle’. Years later, the book spent 261 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list and Lionsgate is turning her story into a film.

Jeannette Walls (Brie Larson) is a young woman growing up in New York. She remembers times in her life as a young child when things were quite different. Her father (Woody Harrelson) was a drunk and her mother (Naomi Watts) was a failing artist, but she didn’t grow up thinking that. When she was young her parents painted a picture that their life was much grander and adventurous than what it appeared. Now, years after she and her siblings ran away from her parents, she finds them squatting in a New York apartment and she must come to terms with them.

The Glass Castle releases August 11, 2017.
