Weed bust cost 2 Chainz his college basketball dreams

Rapper 2 Chainz had to abandon his dreams of becoming a top basketball star following a weed bust. The hitmaker, real name Tauheed Epps, was on course to replace sportsman Penny Hardaway after he left the University of Memphis for the professional game, but a drug arrest derailed his college plans.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine he was behind bars on the morning he was supposed to take his standardised colleges tests and ended up getting into lowly Alabama State University, where he studied psychology and became friends with Georgia radio personality Chris Bridges, aka Ludacris, who signed 2 Chainz to his Disturbing Tha Peace record label.
He says, “Ludacris gave me my first bank account. I still have that account.”
