When the Legends Die | 1971
After the death of his parents, Ute Indian Tom Black Bull leaves his familiar world and moves into the world of the white men, working at a rodeo. When Red Dillon notices the young man's horse-wrangling abilities, Tom becomes a bronco-riding star, but he finally gets tired of being exploited and heads off on his own. He is successful, winning a championship, but misses Red and returns to the rodeo to see him. Red is dying from alcoholism and steals the money that Tom won from the championship to have one last fling. But when Red dies, Tom mourns him, gives him the Ute death rites, and then returns to his reservation as a mature man.
