Yoda Puppet to Be Replaced With CGI in ‘Phantom Menace’ Blu-ray

1109057.jpg Determined to gradually cleanse his films of anything real or tactile, George Lucas has replaced the puppet Yoda in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace with an all-CGI creation in the upcoming Blu-ray version of the film, which will be released as part of a special box set of the prequel trilogy in September, Slashfilm has revealed. Lucas has never been afraid to tinker with creations, making subtle tweaks like altering a pivotal scene in the first Star Wars film, A New Hope, in which Han Solo guns down a bounty hunter in a bar. The reworked scene, which shows Solo acting in self-defense, was universally welcomed by fans of the franchise, who felt that the original scene had unfairly cast the character as a lovable rogue who plays by his own set of rules.
