Elton John has been crowned the king of 2020 touring after squeezing in 47 shows.
The rocker sold almost 800,000 tickets and raked in over $114 million from his 2020 concerts to land the year’s top-grossing tour, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore.
Figures are based on gigs staged between November 1, 2019, and October 31, 2020, and include traditional dates, drive-in concerts, and live stream events.
Elton managed to stage all 47 of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour concerts in North America and Australia before COVID-19 shut the tour down in mid-March.
The Rocket Man hitmaker rises from last year’s number four act to the top of the 2020 countdown, ahead of Celine Dion and U2. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Post Malone round out the 2020 top five.
