Proving that he's nowhere close to being a changed man, Chris Brown recently tried to hit on a woman at a Grammy gift lounge by using what has to be the worst pickup line of all time. According to Us Weekly, the R&B singer confidently approached the attractive brunette last week at the Lasio Professional Hair Care suite and asked her: "Can I get your number? I promise I won't beat you!"
The offensive line comes after Brown pleaded guilty in 2009 for felony assault after beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna. Turning his past discretions into a joke suggests that he hasn't really learned anything from his past mistakes. And it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to learn that his not-so clever pickup line didn't work. The juvenile stunt could have easily been prevented in so many different ways. And since it's clear he could use the advice, we've thought of a few sure-fire ways Brown could have avoided that horribly offensive pickup line and saved a women the world-over from a serious eye-rolling session.
Bust Out Some Serious Dance Moves
Say what you will about the guy, but it's undeniable he's a bit of twinkle-toes - a talent he could have used if he really wanted to get a girl's attention. Chicks love a guy who can dance, so Brown certainly missed a prime opportunity to strut his stuff. You'd be surprised, but a little back flip and hip thrust can go a long way. Stick to what you're good at and you can't go wrong. Besides, dancing is a great way to flirt. Just let your body do the talking.
Celebrity Name-Drop
Hello! Brown's in the entertainment industry, meaning that he has the capability of name-dropping all of his famous celebrity friends. Besides, it's common knowledge that if you can't hang out with the celebrity of your dreams, then hanging out with their close friend is the next best thing. So even if Brown wasn't famous enough to pique the girl's interest, listing the likes of Usher, Beyonce, and Justin Bieber probably wouldn't hurt his chances.
Think "What Would My Publicist Want Me To Do?"
Given his sub-par track record of speaking before thinking (see: his Twitter rampages), Brown could have easily side-stepped the offensive ordeal by simply taking a step back and thinking: "What would my publicist want me to do?" It would keep his mind focused on the potential media fallout if he were to say anything stupid. After all, what are publicists for if not to help avoid sticky situations?
Keep All Conversations Grammys-Centric
If it's the weekend of the Grammys and you're nominated for an award, then it would work to your benefit to stay focused on that topic. It's an impressive accomplishment to talk about (though it'd be even better now considering he actually won a Grammy). See, receiving a nomination implies that you're talented, and thus makes you more intriguing to women. So if Brown had chosen to center the conversation around his accomplishments rather than his abusive downfalls, he probably would've walked away with that girl's number. Heck, he probably could have nabbed a slew of girls' numbers.
Say "Can I get your number? I promise I won't call you."
It's amazing what changing one little word can do to the whole integrity of a sentence. This sounds much more appealing, right? It doesn't make reference to the Rihanna scandal or anything else that could potentially cause him more media harm in the future. Granted, it doesn't really sound like much of a pickup line anymore, let's be honest -- almost anything would be better than what he actually (allegedly) said. You never know, some girls might find the arrogance of this alterna-pick-up charming.
