Abdul's American Idol future uncertain

The star has been on the U.S. TV show since its 2002 debut, alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi.

But bosses have failed to sign Abdul up for the 2010 season yet - and the 47 year old is doubting her future on the singing show.

Her manager, David Sonenberg, tells the Los Angeles Times, "Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on Idol.

Abdul is "hurt and angry" that studio heads have not been in touch with her regarding a new contract.

Sonenberg adds, "I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual - I think unnecessarily hurtful. I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that (Idol production companies Fremantle and 19 Entertainment) haven't stepped up and said what they want to do.

"She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry. I think at this point we're going to be considering everything, including some kind of a competition show. She has tremendous ideas for a whole variety of shows.

Sonenberg has spoken to executives at Fox Network, but adds: "I have not received any proposal whatsoever.".
