Actor James Booth Dies

HOLLYWOOD - Veteran British actor James Booth died of natural causes last week.

He was 77.

Booth grabbed international acclaim with his scene-stealing portrayal of

rogue soldier Private Henry Hook in 1964 historical epic Zulu--and he later

featured in David Lynch's seminal TV drama Twin Peaks as former convict Ernie Niles.

Born David Geeves-Booth, he studied at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic

Arts with screen legends Richard Harris, Peter O'Toole and Albert Finney before

finding success in the theatre in the 1950s.

Booth also starred in a succession of UK TV shows, and filmed a small role in

a comedy starring Maggie Smith and Rowan Atkinson earlier this year.

He is survived by his wife Paula and their four children.
