Ali Flick on the Ropes

HOLLYWOOD - Moviegoers might never see Will Smith transform himself into Muhammad Ali. Sony Pictures is considering knocking out director Michael Mann's biopic of the former boxing champion because of a budget projected to surpass a $105 million cap, Daily Variety reports.

Studio executives are scheduled to hold a meeting today to make a final decision on the latest film from "The Insider" director.

According to Variety, Smith has been working out so much for the Ali role that he might rethink a sequel to "Men in Black," announced Friday, if Mann and producer Jon Peters are unable to set up the Ali film elsewhere.

The Ali film was placed into turnaround by Sony late last week.
