Variety
reports that
De Niro
will play a widower who realizes that his wife was the only connection he had to his children. On a whim, he decides to take a road trip to reconnect with each of his grown kids and along the way discovers that their lives are far from perfect.
The original Italian film starred

Michele Morgan
and was a contender at the Cannes Film Festival in 1990.
