HOLLYWOOD - Film director Woody Allen has signed a three-year deal with a Spanish distribution company to finance production on three of his films in the European country.
The prolific filmmaker struck the pact with the Spain-based Mediapro company after completing filming on romantic comedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona in the city of Barcelona last year. The movie deal will begin in 2009.
In recent years, the Academy Award winner has had to look for financiers outside the U.S. due to the poor box office performances of his cult movies.
The 72-year-old's last hit film, Match Point, starring Scarlett Johansson, was financed by the U.K.'s BBC Films and filmed in London.
