HOLLYWOOD - Gillian Anderson has expressed the hope that The X-Files will

conclude when she leaves the show next year.

"I want the show to end

while it is still strong," she told TV Guide Online. "You want to

go out with a modicum of respect."

As it is, a "modicum" is all it may

end up with. Last week, the once-dominant sci-fi mystery was ranked 67th

out of 110 primetime shows carried by the six networks.

Anderson

remarked that she would not rule out starring in another theatrical

X-Files movie.
