Animal Kingdom, a 2010 indie drama from Australia, is being adapted into a series for Showtime.
The series is being described as "a crime drama exploring the tense battle between a criminal family and the police, and the ordinary lives caught in the middle."
Uber-producer John Wells -- whose hits include ER and The West Wing -- will assume his usual behind-the-scenes position alongside writer/producer Jonathan Lisco (NYPD Blue, Southland).
The film starred Joel Edgerton, Guy Pearce and Jackie Weaver, who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
