HOLLYWOOD - Anna Nicole Smith has been hospitalized in the Bahamas as medics attempt to drain fluid from her lungs.
The former model was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after experiencing pain in her chest.
Her partner and lawyer Howard K. Stern tells news show Entertainment Tonight, "Anna Nicole was experiencing severe pain in her right chest and back.
"A CT scan at the hospital revealed that she has pneumonia, with a significant amount of fluid in the area surrounding the lower lobe of her right lung, which caused her lung to partially collapse.
"A procedure was performed on Tuesday to drain the fluid and open up her lung, and antibiotics are currently being administered.
"We are hoping for a quick recovery, but as of now, Anna Nicole is still experiencing a significant amount of discomfort."
Smith conducted an exclusive interview with the news show, in which she discussed the birth of her new baby Dannielynn and the tragic death of her 20-year-old son Daniel, over the weekend.
Smith Accused of Dyeing New Daughter's Hair
Anna Nicole Smith has been accused of dyeing her new daughter's hair to make her look more like the baby's reported father Howard K. Stern.
An attorney for Larry Birkhead claims the 38-year-old star darkened her infant daughter's locks to help bolster her claims that Stern is the father and not Birkhead.
Smith, Stern and Birkhead have been engaged in a bitter paternity battle since the child was born in September, with both men claiming to be the baby's father.
Birkhead saw the child with dark hair in previewed clips of Smith's interview with TV show Entertainment Tonight and became suspicious of her darker hair color.
His attorney, Deborah Opri, says, "It's horrendous. We are calling our experts right now to see if dyeing an infant's hair is in any way toxic or harmful to the child."
Birkhead has sandy blonde hair, while Smith is naturally a brunette and Stern has black hair.
Smith's attorney, Ron Rule, has slammed the allegations, calling the hair-coloring claims ridiculous.
