For my money, HBO is the best producer of original programming out there right now. While their hit-to-miss ratio might not be as good as AMC’s (which has managed to go 3.5 for 4, earning the second seating after NBC), they have the advantage of time and more shows under their belt. However, the one thing HBO hasn’t tackled yet is the fantasy genre. And it looks like Game of Thrones is their answer to that.
From the get-go, it’s earned comparisons to previous HBO shows (the series creator early joked their tag would be “The Sopranos set in Middle Earth”) which isn’t a bad thing. HBO’s period pieces are always awesome. They’ve tackled everything from ancient Rome to late 90’s Manhattan with a certain ballsy swagger that comes from being a pay subscription service and not having to listen to abide by the rules that handicap network television.
Below, you'll find the third teaser for the series, which is expected to be released sometime next year. I would try to point out the plot from George R.R. Martin’s series, but it's so confusing that I’ll just leave the research to you. Let's be honest, if you haven't heard of this project yet and aren't interested, you aren't going to watch it. But if you are interested, you might just buy the books if you don't already own them. Or you just might enjoy dudes getting their necks chopped up. Whatever floats your boat.
