HOLLYWOOD - Actor Anthony Quinn, who died June 3 of respiratory failure at 86, was honored and remembered by friends and family Saturday. About 300 people attended the public service in Providence, Rhode Island, where still shots from Quinn's 100 movies and his paintings and sculptures were displayed. An organist played an improvisation of the theme song from Zorba the Greek, one of Quinn's most memorable films. "His real gift was helping people who had no voice," actor Edward James Olmos told Associated Press. "His gift was creativity and giving. He created in everything he did." Quinn was buried Friday on his property in Bristol, where he had settled and lived for the last six years, in a private ceremony. However, Saturday's service was for the fans who loved him as well. "He's such a piece of Hollywood history," fan Tony Bennett of Providence told AP.
Quinn's wife, Katherine Benvin Quinn, 38, and four of his children thanked Quinn's fans for paying tribute to him.
