Arnold Schwarzenegger Vetoes Gay Marriage Bill

Arnold Schwarzenegger
HOLLYWOOD - Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is determined to fight a bill endorsing

homosexual marriage in California.

The Republican politician and former screen star insists the decision on

allowing gay weddings should be made by the courts or the voters, not by the

Democrat-led assembly.

But although Democrats were fully prepared for Schwarzenegger's disapproval

over the bill, which was passed last week, they are outraged by

his insistence to veto it without first hearing the views of its supporters.

Democratic congressman Mark Leno says, "It would be a direct insult to the

proponents of this bill and the many millions of Californian families who want

him to sign it."
