Arnold Schwarzenegger Wears 'I Survived Maria' T-Shirt

Oh Mr. Terminator...must you make it so easy to hate you? TMZ caught Arnold Schwarzenegger strutting around in an old gag t-shirt while exercising in Santa Monica on Sunday and it was anything but appropriate. The former California governor wore a shirt that read "I survived Maria" on the back and at the bottom shows the dates "2007-2010", but "2007" is crossed out, replaced with "1977." For anyone not making the connection, "Maria" represents Maria Shriver, his wife of 25 years, whom he began dating back in 1977. The couple are in the process of getting a divorce, so the significance of the t-shirt seems overwhelmingly cruel and too serious of an issue to be making jokes about (click either photo below to see more photos of Mr. Schwarzenegger).

But evidently the t-shirt isn't supposed to be as offensive as it initially appears. Reports are claiming that he received the piece of clothing last November during a farewell party for the Governor's staff and that Shriver's employees actually designed the shirt themselves as a joke, not knowing how ironic it would be months later. The ex-couple seem to be on great terms despite all the drama the actor has caused for his family, but even so -- come on Arnold, the shirt is still a little inappropriate and highly insensitive to the whole situation. Next time, think before you dress.
