Artist paints nude Madonna portraits

Guy Ritchie and Madonna
HOLLYWOOD - Perhaps Madonna's popular lyrics reveal more about her than we thought. The usually brash and revealing pop singer--who is no newbie to nudity--is acting "like a virgin" upon being painted nude "for the very first time."

Contemporary artist Peter Howson, who will be unveiling two unclothed versions of the Material Girl in portraits April 13 at the McLaurin Gallery in Ayr, Scotland, told Reuters, "The reaction from [Madonna's] camp hasn't been good."

That could be because the paintings were not commissioned by the songbird herself.

Although Madonna is a collector of Howson's paintings and has met with him on several occasions, the artist's nude renditions of her were ideas from his own imagination and stem from a project he began 10 years ago.

Madonna was invited to the exhibition, but it is unknown whether or not she has plans to attend.
