Some slightly disheartening news for Evil Dead fans: In a series of tweets today, Bruce Campbell revealed that the upcoming remake of Sam Raimi's cult horror-comedy won't include Ash, the hero of the original film and Campbell's signature character. For his part, the actor doesn't seem especially perturbed by the direction adopted by the Diablo Cody-penned remake, which Fede Alvarez, a newcomer who rose to the big time via a series of viral shorts, is attached to direct. "ED remake is a re-telling. All bets are off & all involved love the new approach," he graciously declared.
