Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, the preeminent director of heart-wrenching movies with intertwining storylines, has chosen his next project: Warner Bros.' The Revenant.
The film will tell of a fur trapper who is mauled by a bear, intentionally left behind by his ship's captain to die, and robbed by the men brought in to bury him after his death. But he lives! Thus The Revenant by default becomes the most uplifting Inarritu movie to date.
Inarritu's last movie, Biutiful, landed Javier Bardem a Best Actor Oscar nomination, and the director was a nominee in his own field for 2006's Babel.
