HOLLYWOOD - Hollywood star Alec Baldwin must face a detailed psychological examination to have any chance of winning extra custody of his daughter Ireland.
A judge in his bitter and prolonged court battle with ex-wife Kim Basinger said the investigation is vital to determine whether the Pearl Harbor star is brainwashing his 10-year-old child against her mother, as Basinger claims.
The actor, who divorced Basinger in 2002, has one week to accept the court-appointed psychologist or plead for another.
Last October, Baldwin alleged Basinger was the one in need of examination, insisting the 52-year-old actress had a "pathological need" to turn their daughter against him.
Superior Court Commissioner Maren E. Nelson said on Friday, "Someone, an evaluator, needs to spend time with Ireland and the parents to work on that issue."
