'Be Cool' Director Defends Derogatory Terms

The Italian Job
HOLLYWOOD - Moviemaker F Gary Gray has defended his use of derogatory name-calling in Get Shorty sequel Be Cool--by stating every ethnic group and minority comes under fire in the comedy.

The Italian Job director has been criticized for his use of the words 'f**got' and 'n**ger' in the new John Travolta film, but he insists he set out to make "an equal-opportunity comedy" that mocks all races and creeds.

The black filmmaker says, "No one goes untouched: black, white, Italians, Jews."
