Ben Affleck Lets Himself Go in New 'Argo' Image

What would Ben Affleck look like if he really thrust himself into his work as a CIA agent, dedicating every second of his time to the management of a successful rescue mission of American hostages in Iran? Well, his hair might be a little longer. Maybe a beard. Otherwise, he'd still look pretty debonair. The first image from Affleck's directorial project Argo, an account of the true story of a CIA hostage rescue mission that took place in the late 1970s, has been released. The image depicts Affleck, who, in addition to directing, also plays a central character: the agency's "exfiltration" specialist Tony Mendez. Below, we see Affleck in character, doubtlessly studying files in an attempt to bring his captured countrymen home from Tehran.

We can wonder what other follicular achievements we will see the Argo cast reach in images to come. Will Taylor Schilling grow out a faux-hawk? Will Alan Arkin manage a ponytail? Will Bryan Cranston attempt a fu manchu? ... Actually, that's something I can get behind.

Argo will reach theaters Sept. 14, 2012.
